Why did you choose to study in Australia and at UQ?
Studying at UQ, one of the well-known universities not only in Australia but also in the world, had been my wish for some time. The Master of Food Studies program at UQ also suited my background in food technology and my interest very well. The course is helping me to enhance my knowledge in food technology which will ensure I am going to meet the requirements for my teaching position back home.
 
What were your first impressions of Brisbane?
My first impressions when I arrived in Brisbane were the beauty and peace of the city. Brisbane is also very multicultural which gives me the chance to meet and make friends with people from around the world. In addition, the public transport is convenient and cheap. It gives me an opportunity to travel and discover this wonderful country.
During my first visit to UQ, I was impressed by the architectural design of the buildings, the natural campus lifestyle such as the Great court, and the UQ Lakes. I was also amazed by the enthusiastic staff of UQ who assisted me and other new students, especially international ones.
 
What are your impressions of science at UQ?
The friendly and approachable lecturers combined with their suitable teaching methods make studying more interesting and rewarding. Additionally, the advanced technology in the laboratories, libraries and lecture halls supports students’ study efficiently.
 
What do you plan to do after graduation?
I would like to do a PhD degree at UQ before becoming a lecturer with a deep understanding of Food Science in my home country, Vietnam.
 
Do you have any advice for students that are thinking about studying Science at UQ?
Studying Science at UQ is a wise decision. Coming to UQ and you will feel the benefits that one of the best universities in the world brings to you.
