IN a world where the chorus of environmental awareness becomes louder every day, Paul Fox is in a position that sees him creating pathways towards positive change.

The UQ Science graduate works as an environmental manager at international professional services company GHD.

Based at the company's Hervey Bay and Bundaberg offices, Paul says he has discovered a wide range of opportunities working in GHD's Wide Bay area.

"One day you could be in the office writing a report, the next day you could be getting dropped off on a remote beach to search for endangered plants and animals," he says.
One of Paul's recent projects has been a biodiversity mapping project on the world heritage listed Fraser Island.

In addition to this, Paul assesses the environmental impact of proposed mining activities in Queensland when wearing his other hat as senior herpetologist – a zoologist concerned with the study of reptiles and amphibians.

Paul says the field work component is what was most useful in his studies at UQ, where he majored in environmental science.

"The highlight of my career has definitely been using the knowledge I gained at university and applying it to real life situations."
