The Faculty is a recognised international centre of research excellence. Students can undertake research in a wide range of disciplines in traditional and emerging fields as either a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or a Master of Philosophy (MPhil).

Our research strengths reflect our diversity and depth of research and the quality of our staff is the key factor in attracting outstanding students. Research excellence is a major criterion for appointment of academic staff to the University and the majority of these staff have experience from a wide-range of world class institutions. This leads to a vibrant and internationally-oriented research culture providing numerous opportunities for students.

The Faculty has a strong interest and success in commercialisation of its intellectual property and student participation has been an important factor in this process.
