UQ science students enjoy a university experience like no other.

In addition to innovative teaching programs based on much of the university’s own groundbreaking research, access to some of the world’s top scientists, teaching by national award winning lecturers and programs that provide graduates in demand for their skills, UQ Science has invested in a range of additional exciting programs and facilities that help students to get the most out of their university experience

ACADEMIC ENHANCEMENT

Science Induction Program (SIP)

SIP is a series of workshops designed by academic staff to ease new students into science at UQ.  Each session offers advice and tips for academic success along with clear explanations on essential university policies and procedures. Topics include getting started in science, time management, preparing for exams and much more. SIP runs throughout the semester, check the events listing for details on individual sessions.

Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS)

PASS is a student-centred, interactive learning program for first year science students to ease the transition to university. Collaborative study sessions run by second and third year science students for new students enrolled in the same course provide the opportunity to seek guidance from further advanced students on academic and non-academic matters relating to course work.

Advanced Study Program in Science

The Advanced Study Program in Science provides a unique opportunity for high achieving students to develop their university experience through an enriched program of study which includes individual mentoring by a scientist, access to research laboratories in first year and access to creative thinkers across all disciplines.

Overseas Study Adventures

Science students are encouraged to take one to two semesters abroad at one of UQ’s 130 internationally recognised university partners throughout the world. Study abroad provides students with an invaluable opportunity to experience life in another country while gaining additional skills, enhance employment opportunities, and earning credit towards their UQ Science degree in the process.
