Why did you choose to study at UQ?

I've always wanted to come to Australia and UQ offers a high profile biotechnology program. The renowned staff conduct world class research and UQ provides state of the art research facilities.

What do you enjoy about your field of study?

Biotechnology has the potential to change people’s lives and provide a more sustainable way of life for today's society.

What are your plans for the future?

My goal as a professional is to develop innovation in the field of biotechnology and give something back to the environment. If I can make money off my ideas along the way that would be awesome.

What are some of the highlights/memorable experiences of your time at UQ so far?

Undertaking the Master of Biotechnology at UQ has been a challenge but it's the satisfaction of accomplishing significant outcomes for the effort that's keeping me motivated. I've also met incredible people along the way and it's just the beginning!

Please list any awards you have received while studying.

Most recently I was awarded the SCMB Latin American Scholarship 2016, I also hold a Mexican Government CONACYT scholarship.  

What extracurricular activities are you involved in?

I joined the UQ baseball team, U-Cue Pool Club and a number of other societies.

What advice would you give to students wishing to study at UQ?

Just apply, seek financial support and do it. You will have to work hard but it totally worth it. Brisbane is awesome and Australians are so nice. It's definitely one of the best experiences I've had so far.
