Program: Bachelor of Science (Microbiology)
Country of Origin: Malaysia

Prior to my enrolment in the pre-university program, I had planned to pursue my undergraduate studies in Australia due to its world class education. As UQ is ranked among the top 100 universities in the world, as well as the 4th in Australia when I first started in 2011, I believe that studying at the University of Queensland has never been a mistake. Also, the laboratories that I worked in are well-equipped and the facilities provided are more than enough to meet my lab work.

Besides, UQ is well-known for its ground-breaking researches in life sciences and this convinced me to study here not just to experience world-class education, but also to approach outstanding researchers for a better understanding in my desired field of studies.

I have recently completed a Bachelor of Science with a major in microbiology. As UQ has a number of experts in virology, bacteriology, parasitology and mycology, these researchers have certainly provided me with knowledge and solid background of their research topics and these could be extremely useful when it comes to studies. On the other hand, the School of Chemistry and Molecular Biosciences has laboratories that deal with microbes, and this has given me the opportunity to gain a hands-on experience. Research labwork in certain courses also allowed students to figure out the difference between ordinary experiments from research projects that require strong creativity and brainstorming.

After I finish, I am hoping to pursue a Master Degree in Biotechnology.
