Glasshouses

The Central Glasshouse Services Unit (CGSU) is a University facility managed by the Faculty of Science.

The CGSU provides a range of centralised plant growing facilities using Quarantine, PC2, temperature controlled and evaporative cooled glasshouses as well as services associated with the growing of plants.

  • The benefits of a centralised plant growing facility are:
  • Cost effective delivery of plant growing facilities close to teaching and research Schools.
  • A centralised point for the management and compliance of statutory regulations for PC2 and quarantine glasshouses.
  • Plant material can easily be transferred between teaching & research laboratories and the CGSU.
  • Lower infrastructure maintenance costs to the University.
